How to book at Cornavin

Trains into Genève-Cornavin
Cornavin is Geneva's main station, in the Pâquis-Servette area on the right bank of the lake. SBB InterCity and InterRegio trains run along Lake Geneva to Lausanne (about 35-40 minutes), Montreux, Bern and Zurich (about 2 hours 45 minutes), and to Brig for the Valais resorts. TGV Lyria links Geneva with Paris Gare de Lyon in about 3 hours 10 minutes. The Léman Express, a cross-border regional network, connects the station with Annemasse and towns in Haute-Savoie, including Évian and Annecy. A short train ride of about seven minutes reaches Geneva Airport.
Entrances and surroundings
- Place de Cornavin (front): the main exit, facing Rue du Mont-Blanc and the lake, with trams, buses and the taxi rank.
- Rue de Montbrillant (rear): the Les Grottes side, with quieter road access and parking.
- Underground passage: links the platforms with shops and the Montbrillant side.
The station and its surroundings are being expanded in stages, including a planned underground extension, so temporary routes are common.
Pickup: curbside at the designated area
Curbside is the standard service. Pre-booked cars stop only in the designated drop-off and pick-up areas around the station, often on the Montbrillant side where there is space, or in the station car park; the Place de Cornavin taxi rank and tram lanes are off limits. After your train arrives, the chauffeur tells you exactly where to go.
A concourse or platform meet with a name board is offered through meet and greet as an add-on. Add-ons are only available in selected locations.
Following the TGV and the Léman Express
Your train number is tracked. If the TGV Lyria from Paris is held at the border, the chauffeur's schedule moves with the real arrival, free of charge. After arrival, 15 minutes of waiting are included; beyond that, 15-minute blocks apply.
Ski season luggage
From December to April, many Cornavin arrivals are heading to the Alps with skis, boots and heavy bags. Book a Standard Black SUV or Executive Black SUV for up to six passengers, or a Sprinter Van for a group of up to 12. A Standard Sedan is best kept for two people with ordinary suitcases. Child seats are free on request. Winter tyres are standard on Alpine routes, and chains may be needed on the final climbs.

Diplomacy, finance and the international city
Geneva hosts the United Nations Office at the Palais des Nations, the WTO, the WHO, the Red Cross and more than a hundred other international organisations, most within 10 minutes of Cornavin. Private banks and trading houses are grouped on the left bank around the Rue du Rhône. Diplomatic delegations and conference programmes are planned by a coordinator and confirmed in writing; see government and diplomatic. Palexpo, beside the airport, hosts large events such as a watch fair usually in the spring.
Ski resorts and cross-border runs
Cornavin is the natural starting point for intercity transfers to the mountains and the lake:

- Val d'Isère, about 185 km, 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours 15 minutes
- Lyon, about 150 km, 1 hour 45 minutes
French motorways are tolled and some French cities, including Lyon, run low-emission zones, and any zone charge on the route is billed at actual cost and added to the booking. Other Geneva stations on the Léman Express
The cross-border Léman Express has opened several new stops in and around the city. Genève-Eaux-Vives serves the left-bank residential districts and the hospitals, Lancy-Pont-Rouge sits in a growing office district in the south-west, and Genève-Aéroport is the rail stop beneath the airport terminal. If your train from Annemasse or Coppet stops at one of these, it may be closer to your destination than Cornavin; enter that station as the pickup and the chauffeur meets you there.
