Trains that use Part-Dieu
Part-Dieu handles more connecting passengers than any other French station outside Paris.

Entrances and the changing station
Part-Dieu is in the middle of a long redevelopment that has added new halls, a new entrance on the Place Béraudier side (west, towards the shopping centre and the city) and reworked access on the Villette side (east). Taxi ranks, short-stay parking and the pick-up area for pre-booked cars sit along these fronts. Because work is ongoing, the exact meeting point is confirmed by message before your train arrives rather than printed in advance.
Meeting your chauffeur
With a Part-Dieu arrival, curbside at the designated pick-up area is the standard service. The chauffeur waits with the car and does not come to the platform by default. Your train number sets the timing. A TGV from Paris held outside Mâcon, or a Frecciarossa late from the Fréjus tunnel, simply shifts the pickup. With a Part-Dieu arrival, included waiting is 15 minutes from the actual arrival, then charged in 15-minute blocks.
Luggage and ski equipment
Platforms at Part-Dieu are reached from an underpass with escalators and lifts, and the new halls give more room to move with trolleys. In winter many travellers arrive with skis and boot bags heading to Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens or Tignes. Hotels and business districts
Part-Dieu is itself Lyon's main business district, with the Incity and Part-Dieu towers a short walk from the station. The InterContinental in the Grand Hôtel-Dieu, the Sofitel near Bellecour and the hotels of Vieux Lyon are 10 to 20 minutes by car. Congresses at the Centre de Congrès in the Cité Internationale and trade fairs at Eurexpo, including Sirha in January of odd-numbered years, bring heavy traffic. The Fête des Lumières in early December closes much of the centre in the evenings. Lyon has a low-emission zone (ZFE); the licensed VTC vehicles used for our trips meet its rules.
Intercity alternatives by car
Lyon is the gateway to the French Alps, and trains to the resorts need changes. By road, Courchevel and Méribel are about 2 h 15 to 2 h 45, Val Thorens around 2 h 45, Chamonix about 2 h 15, Annecy about 1 h 30, and Geneva about 1 h 45 (roughly 150 km). Grenoble is about 1 h 15, the Beaujolais vineyards about 45 minutes, and the northern Rhône at Vienne and Tain-l'Hermitage 30 minutes to an hour. For Part-Dieu, the terms are simple: free cancellation until 72 hours before pickup, then 10 % up to 48 hours, 50 % up to 24 hours, and 100 % in the last 24 hours or for a no-show.
