An airport inside a national park
Jackson Hole Airport is the only commercial airport located within a US national park. It sits on the floor of the valley inside Grand Teton National Park, about nine miles north of the town of Jackson on US 26/89/191, and is run by the Jackson Hole Airport Board. The setting brings strict noise-abatement and environmental rules, and the elevation of about 6,450 feet and winter weather affect operations.
Two FBOs serve private aircraft: Jackson Hole Aviation and Jackson Hole Flight Services. They have separate buildings and entrances, so tell us which one your flight department has booked. Airline passengers use the main terminal, which is not where your chauffeur will be.
Where the chauffeur meets you
The standard meeting point is the entrance of your FBO, with the car in its customer parking. Line staff bring bags from the aircraft to the vehicle. Planeside pickup can be requested when you book: we pass the chauffeur's details to the FBO, and it goes ahead only if the FBO's ramp procedures and your aircraft operator allow it for that arrival. At Christmas, on Presidents' Day weekend and during snow removal, ramps are full and requests are often declined.
Customs at JAC
Customs clearance for international private arrivals is available at Jackson Hole on request, arranged in advance with CBP and the FBO. When clearance cannot be arranged for your date, the aircraft clears at another airport of entry and continues to JAC as a domestic flight. Either way, the chauffeur is timed to the actual landing, with 60 minutes of included waiting for arrivals from abroad and 30 minutes for domestic flights, then 15-minute blocks.

The narrow Moose-Wilson Road is closed in winter along part of its length and has vehicle-size limits, so Teton Village transfers normally go round through Jackson and Wilson. Teton Pass on WY 22 is steep and can close in storms; conditions are on WYDOT's road information site.
Driving through the park
The highway from the airport to town runs through the park, and no entrance fee is needed for that through-route. Trips deeper into the park, such as Jenny Lake or the Signal Mountain area, pass entrance stations; park fees are set by the National Park Service, and your affiliate will tell you if a pass is needed for the itinerary. Wildlife on the road is common, especially at dawn and dusk, which is why local chauffeurs drive the valley at a measured pace.
Skis, duffels and fishing gear
Winter guests arrive with skis and boot bags for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort or Grand Targhee; summer visitors carry fly rods, golf bags and hiking duffels. A Standard Black SUV or Executive Black SUV seats six with six bags, which means about four passengers with ski gear. Larger ranch parties should book a Sprinter Van for 12 passengers with 12 small bags, or two SUVs. Mention oversized items so the affiliate can plan space.
Which class fits which Jackson Hole trip
A Standard Black SUV is the right default for most of the year, with four-wheel drive and room for gear. The Executive Black SUV adds a quieter cabin for principals and families. A Standard Sedan or Luxury Executive Sedan suits a summer business visit to town with two suitcases. The Executive First Class Sedan (Maybach) is best for a clear summer evening at a Teton Village restaurant. Peak weeks
The Christmas and New Year fortnight and Presidents' Day week are the heaviest for private traffic. In late August, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City's economic policy symposium at Jackson Lake Lodge draws central bankers and press, and the valley's summer season from July into September brings weddings and the Grand Teton Music Festival. The Fall Arts Festival is usually in September. On those dates, book early.
Discretion on ranches and private roads
Many arrivals head to private ranches and homes behind gates in Wilson, Moose or the Snake River Ranch area. Include gate codes, the ranch manager's number and any instructions about gravel or unplowed drives. Chauffeurs do not hold name boards at the FBO unless asked, and bookings can list initials. Family offices keep standing profiles through the HNWI and family office programme.
Crew transport and diversions
Crews usually overnight in Jackson, 15 to 20 minutes from the airport. Add them as a second car on the booking. When weather diverts an arrival to Idaho Falls, Bozeman or Salt Lake City, the new airport is a new pickup, so the desk confirms a new fixed fare with you or your dispatcher before the car moves.
