Jackson Hole Airport (JAC): the pickup
JAC is the only commercial airport located inside a US national park, and its single terminal is small, with timber beams and a view of the Teton Range from the gate area. Town, Teton Village and Wilson
The town of Jackson centres on the Town Square with its four elk-antler arches, and hotels such as The Wort Hotel, Hotel Jackson and The Cloudveil are in walking distance. Snow King Mountain rises directly behind town. Teton Village, 12 miles northwest, is the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and its aerial tram, with the Four Seasons Resort Jackson Hole, Hotel Terra, Caldera House and the Snake River Lodge. Amangani sits on East Gros Ventre Butte between the two. Grand Targhee, on the far side of the Tetons, is reached from Jackson over Teton Pass through Driggs, Idaho.
Driving in Jackson Hole: wildlife, winter and the passes
- Wildlife: moose, elk, bison and deer cross US-89 and the park roads at any hour; around dusk and dawn a chauffeur slows down, and so should everyone. The National Elk Refuge borders the highway north of town.
- Teton Pass (WY-22): grades of about 10% to a summit above 8,400 feet. A section slid off the mountain in June 2024; it reopened on a detour within weeks and WYDOT completed permanent repairs in 2025. It still closes for avalanche control in storms. Check WYDOT road reports.
- Winter: from November to April, all-wheel-drive SUVs with snow tyres are the right vehicle, and fog or blowing snow can slow the airport run.
- Park roads: much of Yellowstone's interior closes to cars from early November to spring, and parts of the Teton Park Road close to vehicles in winter. The route from the airport to town stays open year-round.
Grand Teton and Yellowstone days
A full-day car is the comfortable way to see the parks: Jenny Lake, Signal Mountain, Oxbow Bend and Mormon Row in Grand Teton, or a long day north through the South Entrance to Old Faithful and back. Entrance fees are set by the National Park Service and paid at the gates; see nps.gov. Book an hourly chauffeur service or city tours and day trips so the car waits at each stop.

- December to early April: ski season at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, peaking over the holidays and in March.
- Late May: Old West Days in town, over Memorial Day weekend.
- July and August: the Grand Teton Music Festival in Teton Village.
- Late August: the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City's economic policy symposium at Jackson Lake Lodge, when lodging and cars in the north of the park are scarce.

Conference and corporate travel in the valley
Jackson hosts conferences, board retreats and family-office gatherings at Jackson Lake Lodge, the Four Seasons and the larger town hotels, and August is its busiest month for meetings. Programmes usually involve arrivals spread across a day at JAC, cars between lodge and venue, and dinner moves into town. A coordinator plans the vehicles and timing and confirms them in writing, and companies can bill through corporate accounts.
Which vehicle to choose
An executive SUV is the standard for the valley in every season: skis, fly-fishing rods and duffels fit, and it copes with winter roads. A Standard Black SUV or Sprinter Van carries a family or a ranch wedding party, and a minicoach moves a conference group to Jackson Lake Lodge. Other gateways and nearby cities
