From SLC to Park City: the practical details
Salt Lake City International opened its rebuilt single terminal in 2020, with long concourses that can mean a 15-minute walk to baggage claim. Deer Valley, Park City Mountain and the town
Park City has two major ski areas. Park City Mountain, one of the largest ski resorts in the US, has bases at the Town Lift on Main Street, the Mountain Village and Canyons Village off SR-224. Deer Valley, skiers only, spreads from Snow Park and Silver Lake toward its new East Village expansion near the Jordanelle Reservoir. Lodging ranges from the Montage Deer Valley, The St. Regis Deer Valley and Stein Eriksen Lodge to the Waldorf Astoria Park City and the Pendry at Canyons Village, and the Washington School House and Goldener Hirsch in town. Historic Main Street is steep and one-way sections change on event nights, so your chauffeur will name a nearby drop point when the street is closed.
Sundance and the event calendar
The Sundance Film Festival held its final Park City edition in January 2026 and moves to Boulder, Colorado, from 2027, so late January is no longer the town's traffic peak it once was. The rest of the calendar still fills hotels:

- Winter: freestyle skiing World Cup events at Deer Valley, usually in January or February.

Winter driving in the Wasatch
I-80 through Parleys Canyon is a major interstate and is well plowed, but storms close lanes and cause long queues, and the Utah Department of Transportation may require traction devices in severe conditions. The canyons to Alta and Snowbird (Little Cottonwood) and Brighton and Solitude (Big Cottonwood) have their own traction restrictions and avalanche closures. Rail and onward trips
