Lanseria and its FBO
Lanseria International Airport lies north-west of Johannesburg, between Sandton, Fourways and the Magaliesberg, and is the main business aviation airport for Gauteng. It also carries some airline flights, but the airfield has long been the preferred choice for corporate jets because it is closer to Sandton's northern suburbs than OR Tambo and less congested. ExecuJet operates an FBO at Lanseria, with a passenger lounge and processing for private flights. The Lanseria airport website gives an overview of the field.
FBO pickup and ramp requests
The chauffeur waits outside the ExecuJet building and the FBO team handles your bags. If you want the car at the aircraft, ask when you book. We send the chauffeur's name, licence and plate to the FBO and your aircraft operator; airside access happens only if both approve for that arrival.
Immigration and customs
Lanseria is an international port of entry, and private passengers arriving from abroad clear immigration and customs at the airport. Busy periods
Private traffic follows the business calendar, with conferences in Sandton and Midrand through the year. The Nedbank Golf Challenge at Sun City, usually in November or December, brings a spike of charter flights. Safari travellers often fly from Lanseria to lodge airstrips in the Kruger area and the Waterberg, so a car may only be needed for the short run from the hotel to the FBO.
Waiting, hourly hire and cancellation
Every flight is tracked by tail number. Included waiting is 60 minutes from landing on an international arrival and 30 minutes on a domestic leg, then 15-minute blocks. Hourly hire starts at three hours. Cancelling costs nothing beyond 72 hours; inside 72 hours it is 10%, inside 48 hours 50%, and inside 24 hours, or for a no-show, the full fare. Safari lodges and bush airstrips
Lanseria is the usual jumping-off point for private safaris. Guests often arrive on a long-range jet, overnight in Sandton or at an estate near the airport, and then fly on in a smaller aircraft to a lodge airstrip in the Greater Kruger, the Waterberg or the Madikwe reserve. In that case the chauffeur's job is two short runs: FBO to hotel on arrival, and hotel back to the FBO the next morning, with luggage packed to the soft-bag weight limits that light aircraft impose.
