Trains and operators at Sants
Sants is Barcelona's main long-distance station, managed by Adif.
- Renfe AVE and Avlo to Madrid, Seville, Málaga, Valencia and Zaragoza, and Renfe trains into France towards Lyon and Marseille.
- Iryo and Ouigo high-speed trains, mainly on the Madrid route.
- SNCF TGV INOUI direct trains to Paris.
- Rodalies commuter and regional trains, including the R2 Nord to the airport's Terminal 2.
- Metro lines L3 and L5.

Station exits and pick-up areas
Sants sits between two squares. The Plaça dels Països Catalans side and the Plaça de Joan Peiró side each have taxi ranks and road access, and the station has car parks with short-stay areas. Pre-booked cars use the zones set aside for them rather than the taxi lanes. Which exit is best depends on where your coach stops and where you are heading next, so we confirm the meeting point by message before the train arrives.
How the chauffeur meets you
The standard service is curbside at the designated pick-up area. The chauffeur waits at the car and does not come to the platform or into the hall by default. Luggage and moving through the station
High-speed platforms are below the main concourse, with escalators and lifts up to street level. Security scanning applies on departures, not arrivals, so exiting is quick. Hotels, congresses and the city
Most five-star hotels are on or near Passeig de Gràcia, along the Diagonal, or on the waterfront at Barceloneta and Diagonal Mar. In late February or early March the Mobile World Congress fills Fira Gran Via and the roads around it; book early for those dates, because demand for cars spikes. Barcelona and the surrounding municipalities have a low-emission zone (ZBE Rondes) that bars older vehicles on weekdays; licensed VTC cars used on our trips meet the rules.
Intercity alternatives by car
Barcelona is a good base for road trips the train does not serve directly, and a car avoids changing trains with luggage. Sitges is about 40 minutes down the coast, Montserrat about an hour, Girona about 1 h 15 and the Costa Brava resorts around 1 h 30. The Penedès wine region is 45 minutes to an hour, Tarragona about 1 h 15, and Andorra roughly 3 hours by road. Sants is also where many roadshow teams start a day of meetings, because the AVE from Madrid lands mid-morning. Firms with regular Madrid-Barcelona traffic use corporate accounts with monthly invoicing and named coordinators.
