What arrives at Centrale
Milano Centrale is Italy's second-busiest station and a monumental building, opened in 1931, with a vast arched train shed over two dozen platforms. Trenitalia Frecciarossa and Italo high-speed trains arrive from Rome in about 2 hours 55 minutes to 3 hours 15 minutes, from Florence in about 1 hour 50 minutes, from Bologna in about 1 hour and from Turin in about 1 hour. EuroCity trains come from Zurich (about 3 hours 20 minutes), Geneva and Basel, and French and Italian high-speed trains link Milan with Paris via Turin when the Alpine line is open. The Malpensa Express runs to Malpensa Airport in about 50-55 minutes.
Beneath the station, Metro lines M2 (green) and M3 (yellow) connect with the rest of the city.
Squares and exits around the building
- Piazza Duca d'Aosta (front): the grand façade and the main taxi rank, facing the Pirelli Tower.
- Piazza Luigi di Savoia (east side): the airport buses and coach stops, with vehicle access.
- Piazza IV Novembre (west side): towards Via Vittor Pisani and the Porta Nuova towers.
- Galleria delle Carrozze: the covered carriage gallery along the front, used for access and taxis.
Trains arrive on the upper level, and ramps, escalators and travelators lead down to the ticket hall and the street. Allow 10 minutes from the far end of a long Frecciarossa to the exit.
Legal pick-up areas and the meeting point
Curbside pickup is standard. NCC cars may stop only in the designated drop-off and pick-up areas around the station, usually on the side squares, and may not use the taxi ranks or bus bays. After you step off the train, the chauffeur sends the exact meeting point by text or call.
For a meet at the head of the platform with a name board, add meet and greet. Add-ons are only available in selected locations.
Train tracking and delays
We track your train number throughout the journey. If an Italo from Naples is running 30 minutes late, the chauffeur arrives for the real time, free of charge. The first 15 minutes after the train arrives are included, and any further waiting is billed in 15-minute blocks.
Luggage and shopping

Area C, Area B and the city centre
Milan charges a congestion fee for most vehicles entering Area C, the historic centre inside the Cerchia dei Bastioni, on weekdays, and Area B is a low-emission zone covering most of the city. Centrale is outside Area C, but many hotels and showrooms are inside it. The rules are set by the Comune di Milano, and any Area C charge on your route is charged at actual cost and added to the booking.
Fashion, design and finance
Milan's business calendar is dense: fashion weeks usually in February and September, the Salone del Mobile at Fiera Milano Rho usually in April, and a steady flow of banking and legal work around Porta Nuova, Piazza Cordusio and Piazza Affari. For a day of showrooms or meetings, an hourly chauffeur (three-hour minimum) saves repeated bookings. Large events at the San Siro stadium and the Forum in Assago also slow traffic.
