Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang?
Bangkok has two airports. Suvarnabhumi (BKK), east of the city, handles most full-service international flights. Don Mueang (DMK), in the north, is the base for many low-cost airlines. They are 45 to 75 minutes apart by road. Check the code on your ticket before booking.
Inside the terminal
Suvarnabhumi has one very long main terminal under a large curved roof, with seven concourses, plus the SAT-1 satellite concourse linked by an automated underground train. International arrivals are on the second floor; departures on the fourth. If you arrive at SAT-1, allow 10 to 15 minutes extra for the train ride and the walk to immigration.

Where the chauffeur meets you
Curbside pickup at the area Suvarnabhumi designates for pre-booked and private cars, on or near the arrivals level, is our standard service. After immigration and baggage, message or call the chauffeur, who will tell you the exit door number. The chauffeur waits with the car rather than inside the hall. If you would like to be met at the arrivals exit with a name board, add meet and greet; add-ons are only available in selected locations.
Entry to Thailand: arrival card and queues
Thailand requires foreign visitors to complete the online Thailand Digital Arrival Card before arrival, on the official TDAC site. Many nationalities can enter visa-exempt for a set period, but the length of stay has been under review, so check the current rules with the Thai immigration authorities or your nearest embassy. Immigration at Suvarnabhumi can be slow when several long-haul flights land together; allow 40 to 80 minutes from touchdown to the car. The 60 free minutes start at the actual landing, then waiting is charged in 15-minute blocks.
Drive times to Bangkok's districts
Thailand drives on the left. Most trips take the Bang Na-Chon Buri or Si Rat expressways into the city.

Airport Rail Link or car?
The Airport Rail Link runs from the basement of Suvarnabhumi to Phaya Thai in about 26 minutes, with a connection to the BTS Skytrain there and to the MRT at Makkasan. It is cheap and avoids traffic. It is much less convenient with large suitcases, in the afternoon heat, or for hotels on the river or deep in Sukhumvit, where you would need a further taxi. A car takes you straight to the hotel entrance.
The rail link also stops running around midnight, while Suvarnabhumi receives flights through the night. For a late landing, particularly from Europe or the Middle East, a pre-booked car avoids the public taxi queue on level 1, and on quiet roads the drive to Sukhumvit can take as little as 30 minutes.

- Luxury Executive Sedan (S-Class class, 2/2): executives heading to Sathorn or Silom offices.

Pattaya, Hua Hin and resort transfers
Many travellers go straight from Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya on the eastern seaboard, or to Hua Hin on the Gulf coast. These are booked as fixed-fare intercity transfers, with the same flight tracking and waiting rules. For Phuket, most people fly on to Phuket airport, and we can meet the connecting flight there too.
Weather and timing through the year
Bangkok's rainy season runs roughly from May to October, and afternoon storms can flood roads and slow traffic for an hour or two. The busiest tourist period is November to February. Songkran, the Thai New Year in mid-April, brings holiday traffic out of the city and water festivities in some neighbourhoods.
Conferences, incentives and corporate travel
Bangkok is a regional hub for conferences and incentive travel, with major venues at Queen Sirikit and IMPACT. Event transportation, group transportation and corporate programmes are planned by a coordinator and confirmed in writing. Corporate accounts offer monthly invoicing and traveller profiles.
Where visitors to Bangkok stay
Business travellers usually stay along Sukhumvit Road, where the BTS Skytrain runs overhead past Asok, Phrom Phong and Thong Lo, or in Silom and Sathorn, the city's financial district. The Ratchaprasong area around Ploenchit has several large hotels next to the main shopping malls. The historic riverside hotels on the Chao Phraya, some reached only by lanes off Charoen Krung Road, are where a door-to-door car makes the biggest difference. Include the hotel name in the booking, as well as the soi number if your address is on a side street.
Departing from Suvarnabhumi
The chauffeur drops you on the fourth-floor departures level, beside the check-in rows for your airline. Allow three hours before an international flight, plus time for the tourist VAT refund desks if you have shopping to declare. The expressways are busiest on weekday mornings and late afternoons, and on Friday evenings when many residents leave the city, so book the hotel pickup with that in mind.
