Baiyun terminals: T1, T2 and the expansion

Guangzhou Metro Line 3 serves both terminals and reaches Tiyu Xilu in Tianhe in roughly 40 to 50 minutes, with a change needed for most hotels. Intercity trains also call at the airport's Terminal 2 railway station, useful for some Pearl River Delta towns. For Shenzhen or Hong Kong many travellers take a car to Guangzhou South and then high-speed rail; trains to Hong Kong West Kowloon run in under an hour. Rail is fast and cheap for a solo traveller with a small bag. A car makes more sense with big luggage, sample cases for the fair, a group or a destination away from a metro station. The China Import and Export Fair, the Canton Fair, runs in spring (usually April into May) and autumn (usually October into November) at the Pazhou complex. During those weeks Baiyun, the Airport Expressway and hotels near Pazhou are at their busiest, and last-minute cars are scarce. Book arrivals early, and consider a hourly chauffeur service booking (minimum 3 hours) if you plan to visit showrooms in Foshan or factories in Dongguan the same day.
