Which terminal will I arrive at?
Almost every passenger flight arrives at Terminal 1, the large building designed by Foster and Partners on the reclaimed island of Chek Lap Kok. Terminal 2 has been under reconstruction as part of the Three-Runway System project, and its passenger facilities are returning in phases, so a few airlines may check in there even when you land at Terminal 1. Arrivals hall A and hall B both exit into the same Terminal 1 meeting area. Your flight number tells our system which hall you will use.

Where exactly does the chauffeur meet me at HKG?
The standard service is a curbside pickup at the area the Airport Authority designates for pre-arranged private cars and hotel limousines, which sits a short walk from the Terminal 1 arrivals exits. Once you have cleared customs and collected your bags, message or call the chauffeur, who replies with the exact door and bay. The chauffeur does not come into the terminal by default.
If you would like to be met at the arrivals exit with a name board, add meet and greet when you book. Add-ons are only available in selected locations, and the booking engine shows whether the option is open for your time of arrival.
How long do immigration and baggage take at Hong Kong?
Hong Kong's Immigration Department runs large arrival counters and e-Channel gates, and many visitors can enter without a visa for periods that depend on nationality. On a typical day allow 25 to 50 minutes from landing to the meeting point, longer when several wide-bodies from Europe and North America arrive in the early morning bank. Check your own entry conditions on the Immigration Department site before you fly. Because included waiting is 60 minutes from the actual landing, and 15-minute blocks after that, a slow bag belt rarely costs anything.
Drive times from HKG to the city
The airport is on Lantau Island, connected to the rest of Hong Kong by the North Lantau Highway, the Tsing Ma Bridge and the Western Harbour Crossing or the Tsing Sha route. Traffic is lighter than most visitors expect, though the harbour crossings can queue at peak hours.
- Central and Admiralty: typically 30 to 45 minutes
- Tsim Sha Tsui and West Kowloon: 30 to 40 minutes
- Wan Chai and Causeway Bay: 35 to 55 minutes
- Quarry Bay and Taikoo Place: 40 to 60 minutes
- Sha Tin and the Science Park: 35 to 50 minutes
- Discovery Bay and Tung Chung hotels: 10 to 25 minutes

Is the Airport Express faster?
The MTR Airport Express reaches Hong Kong Station in Central in about 24 minutes and Kowloon Station in about 22, running every few minutes through the day. It is quick and reliable. What it does not do is finish at your door: from Hong Kong Station you still need a taxi or a walk through the IFC to reach most hotels and offices, and families with luggage, roadshow teams carrying equipment, or anyone heading to the Southside, the Peak or the New Territories usually gain time with a car.

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge starts beside the airport, and cross-boundary travel into Macau or mainland China needs vehicles and drivers holding the correct cross-boundary permits, plus the passenger's own entry documents. Hong Kong is a financial hub, and a large share of HKG work is for bank teams, fund managers and listed companies meeting investors. A financial roadshow programme can combine the airport pickup with a day of hourly chauffeur service in Central and Admiralty, with the chauffeur holding in a nearby car park between meetings. Private jets at Hong Kong
