DXB terminals: which one are you landing at?

Terminals 1 and 3 share the same landside road system and a Dubai Metro Red Line station each. Terminal 2 is on the opposite side of the airfield, so a chauffeur needs the correct terminal to be in the right place. Always enter your flight number: the terminal is read from live flight data.
Where the chauffeur meets you at DXB
The standard service is collection at the pickup area DXB designates for pre-booked limousines and chauffeured cars outside the arrivals hall of your terminal. After immigration and baggage, message or call the chauffeur, who will send the exact pillar, door or bay. On a standard booking the chauffeur waits with the car rather than in the hall.
If you prefer to be greeted inside with a name board, add meet and greet. Add-ons are only available in selected locations, and the booking engine shows whether it can be added for your terminal at DXB.
Immigration and customs timing at Dubai
Dubai's immigration is generally quick. Many nationalities receive a visa on arrival or visa-free entry, and eligible travellers can use smart gates with a passport scan and facial recognition. Queues form when several wide-body flights land together, most often late at night and in the early morning. Allow 30 to 60 minutes from touchdown to the car at Terminal 3, including the long walk and train ride from the gates. UAE customs rules on some prescription medicines are strict; check official guidance on the UAE government portal before you travel.
International arrivals include 60 minutes of free waiting from the actual landing, and extra time is charged in 15-minute blocks.
Drive times from Dubai International
DXB sits on the Deira side of Dubai Creek, close to the old city. Most of the new city lies to the south-west along Sheikh Zayed Road, so evening peaks lengthen the longer runs.

- Abu Dhabi city: about 1 h 30 to 1 h 45.

Dubai Metro and other alternatives
The Dubai Metro Red Line has stations at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, reaching Downtown's Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station in about 20 to 25 minutes and Dubai Marina in around 45 to 55 minutes. It is inexpensive and air-conditioned, but luggage limits apply and the walk from stations to hotels can be long in summer heat. The RTA publishes timetables and rules. A booked car makes the difference with family luggage, for Palm Jumeirah or Marina hotels, late at night, and when you want the car waiting rather than joining a taxi queue.

Exhibitions and peak weeks in Dubai
Dubai's calendar is full of large trade events: Gulfood is usually held in February, GITEX Global usually in October, and the Dubai Airshow in November of odd-numbered years, alongside major conferences at the Dubai World Trade Centre and Expo City. Winter, from November to March, is the busiest tourist season, while summer brings extreme heat and lighter traffic. Private flights use the business aviation terminals at DXB and at Dubai World Central (Al Maktoum International, DWC) in Dubai South, which is also the planned long-term home of Dubai's main airport. Local driving facts
The UAE drives on the right. Dubai's Salik toll gates charge automatically on major routes, and speed cameras are widespread. The weekend is Saturday and Sunday. Summer temperatures often exceed 40°C, so chauffeurs cool the car before you get in.
