JAX arrivals and the pickup point
Jacksonville International sits about 15 miles north of downtown, off I-95. It has one terminal with Concourses A and C, and a new Concourse B is being built. Pre-arranged cars collect passengers in the ground transportation area on the lower level, outside baggage claim, with a booth for commercial transport close by. A very large city on the St. Johns
By land area, Jacksonville is the largest city in the contiguous United States, so distances are long even inside city limits. Downtown sits on the north bank of the St. Johns River, facing the Southbank's hotels across the water. San Marco lies just south, and Riverside and Avondale, west of downtown, are the historic neighbourhoods with restaurants and old oak streets. Most offices are in Southside, along the I-295 East Beltway, Baymeadows and the Deerwood and St. Johns Town Center areas. East of the Intracoastal Waterway are Atlantic, Neptune and Jacksonville Beaches, and to the south, Ponte Vedra Beach and Nocatee.
Stadiums, arenas and hotels
EverBank Stadium, home of the Jaguars, is in the middle of a major renovation due to finish around 2028, and the team's home games are planned for Camping World Stadium in Orlando during the heaviest phase of the work. VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena and Daily's Place are next to it in the Sports Complex east of downtown, and the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center occupies the old railway terminal west of the centre. The Florida Theatre and the Times-Union Center handle the performing arts. Business travellers use the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront, the Omni downtown and the hotels on the Southbank, while the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, the Sawgrass Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island serve the coast.
Jacksonville's event calendar
- March: THE PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, usually mid-month, and the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance, usually early in the month. Details are on THE PLAYERS.
- September to January: the Jaguars season, subject to the stadium renovation schedule.
- Late October or early November: the Florida and Georgia college football game, traditionally in Jacksonville. It moves to Atlanta in 2026 and Tampa in 2027 during the renovation and is expected back in Jacksonville from 2028.

Choosing the vehicle
A Standard Sedan fits one or two people and a Luxury Executive Sedan suits client visits. Intercity transfers along the coast
- St. Augustine: about 40 miles from downtown via I-95, 45 minutes to 1 hour.
- Savannah: about 140 miles on I-95, 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes.
- Orlando: about 140 miles on I-95 and I-4, 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes, for MCO flights or the parks.
- Port Canaveral: about 160 miles, 2.5 to 3 hours, for cruises from the Canaveral terminals.

Rail connections
Amtrak's Jacksonville station is on Clifford Lane on the northwest side, not downtown. It is served by the Silver Meteor between New York and Miami and the Floridian between Chicago and Miami by way of Washington, D.C. Schedules are on Amtrak.
Driving in Northeast Florida
Driving is on the right. I-95 runs north to south through the city and I-295 forms a beltway; the Fuller Warren and other river bridges are the usual bottlenecks at rush hour. The First Coast Expressway (SR 23) in the southwest is a cashless toll road. Hurricane season runs from June to November; if a storm closes the port or the airport, the dispatch desk contacts you about new times.
