The AGP terminal complex
Málaga-Costa del Sol operates as a connected terminal complex, with Terminal 3 handling most traffic and Terminal 2 joined to it; the original Terminal 1 sees limited use. Arrivals are on the ground floor. Spain is in the Schengen area. The Cercanías C1 line has a station at the airport, running to Málaga María Zambrano in around 8 to 10 minutes and to Centro-Alameda in about 12 minutes, and west to Torremolinos and Fuengirola. At María Zambrano, AVE high-speed trains run to Madrid in about 2 h 30 to 2 h 45; timetables are on Renfe. Buses serve Marbella and Estepona, but there is no rail line west of Fuengirola.
For a solo traveller heading into Málaga the train is quick and cheap. For Marbella, Puerto Banús or Sotogrande, where there is no train, a car is the direct option, especially with luggage or golf bags.
