Colombo chauffeur booking: what to enter
Your flight number, the hotel or address, the passenger and bag count, and the vehicle class. Bandaranaike International Airport at Katunayake
CMB is at Katunayake, about 32 to 35 km north of Colombo Fort, and is operated by Airport and Aviation Services. There is one passenger terminal today; a second terminal, funded with Japanese support, is scheduled to restart construction around November 2026 with completion planned about 30 months later, so expect building works near the forecourt. Standard pickup is at the designated pre-arranged pickup area outside arrivals, and the chauffeur messages you after landing. A name-board meet and greet in the arrivals hall is an add-on, available in selected locations only.
Flight tracking is standard. Waiting included: 60 minutes from landing on international arrivals, 30 minutes on domestic flights and 15 minutes on other pickups, then 15-minute blocks. Sri Lanka ETA: apply before you fly
Most visitors need an Electronic Travel Authorization before departure, applied for on the official ETA portal. Since May 2026 the tourist ETA has been free for nationals of 40 countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, India, China and Germany, for a 30-day double-entry visit, but the ETA itself is still required. Apply only on the official site.
How long is the drive from the airport to Colombo?
On the Colombo-Katunayake Expressway (E03), the car reaches the Fort and Galle Face area in about 30 to 45 minutes outside the rush. Without the expressway, the old Negombo Road can take 75 minutes or more.

Hotels on and around Galle Face

Port of Colombo: cruise calls and crew changes
The Port of Colombo, run by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, is one of the busiest transhipment ports in South Asia. Cruise ships call mainly between November and April, and passengers leave through the port's passenger terminal and gates near Fort, where the chauffeur meets them at the designated transport area. Rail from Fort and Maradana
Colombo Fort is the main station for the coastal line to Galle and Matara and the upcountry line to Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Ella, famous for its hill-country scenery. Maradana, a short drive east, is the terminus for many services. Tickets and timetables are on Sri Lanka Railways. Many visitors combine a train one way with a car the other; the chauffeur meets you at the station forecourt.
Driving in Sri Lanka
Traffic keeps to the left. Inside Colombo, three-wheelers and buses make short trips slow at peak hours, roughly 7:30 to 9:30 and 16:30 to 19:00. Hill roads to Kandy and Nuwara Eliya are narrow and winding, so allow more time than the distance suggests. An intercity transfer prices a one-way drive; a touring itinerary with overnight stays is planned by a coordinator.

A Standard Sedan covers a solo airport run. For touring with luggage, an executive SUV is more comfortable on hill roads.
