Kahului Airport (OGG): how pickup works
Kahului Airport, on the isthmus between the West Maui Mountains and Haleakala, handles almost all flights to the island, including direct services from the mainland and short interisland hops from Honolulu. It is run by the state's Hawaii Airports system. After baggage claim, pre-arranged ground transportation uses the airport's designated commercial pickup area rather than the public curb. Your chauffeur waits there and texts the vehicle and position once you land. A meet and greet at baggage claim with a name board, or a lei greeting, is an add-on; add-ons are only available in selected locations. Every arrival is flight-tracked, so the chauffeur is timed to the actual landing. Flights from the mainland count as domestic: 30 minutes of waiting is included. International arrivals include 60 minutes and other pickups 15, then 15-minute blocks. Two small airports also exist: Kapalua (JHM) in West Maui for commuter flights and Hana (HNM) in East Maui.

The West Maui drive uses the Honoapi'ilani Highway along the coast past Maalaea, which slows in the afternoon and during road works. Your fare is fixed, whatever the traffic.
South Maui: Wailea, Makena and Kihei
Wailea is the island's main resort district, a planned community of hotels, golf courses and shopping above the beaches. Guests arrive at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, the Grand Wailea, the Fairmont Kea Lani, the Andaz Maui at Wailea and Hotel Wailea, among others, and continue to condos and villas in Makena. Kihei, to the north, is a long strip of condos and beach parks. The Wailea Beach Path links several resorts, and restaurants at the Shops at Wailea make short evening transfers popular.
West Maui: Ka'anapali, Kapalua and Lahaina
Ka'anapali Beach is lined with resorts from the Hyatt Regency Maui and the Westin Maui to the Sheraton at Black Rock, and Kapalua, further north, holds the Montage Kapalua Bay, the Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua and two championship golf courses. Between them, Lahaina town was devastated by the August 2023 wildfire and rebuilding continues. Access rules in parts of Lahaina can change; chauffeurs follow county guidance and do not treat the burn area as a sightseeing stop. Respect for residents matters here, and our chauffeurs plan routes accordingly.
The Road to Hana and Haleakala
A day on the Hana Highway covers about 50 miles of curves, narrow stretches and many one-lane bridges between Paia and Hana, with waterfalls, gardens and lookouts along the way. A chauffeur lets everyone look out of the window, and a van or SUV is usually more comfortable than a large vehicle on the tight bends. Book it as a city tour or day trip and set the stops in the notes.
Haleakala National Park rises to about 10,000 feet. Sunrise at the summit requires an advance vehicle reservation from the National Park Service, and summit temperatures are often near freezing before dawn, so bring warm layers. The drive from Wailea takes about two hours each way. Upcountry towns such as Makawao and Kula, with ranches and farms on the volcano's slopes, make a good stop on the way down.
Events and seasons
- December to April: humpback whale season, with peak sightings typically from January to March, and the busiest period for resort stays.
- Winter: golf season at Kapalua and Wailea, including tournament weeks when roads near the courses are busy.
- Around the Fourth of July: the Makawao Rodeo in Upcountry Maui.
- All year: weddings on beaches, resort lawns and estates, many at sunset.

Weddings and events
Maui weddings often involve an early-afternoon run for the couple, a guest shuttle from the resort to the ceremony, and late return trips after the reception. Cruise ships at Kahului

Which vehicle to book
Couples usually choose a Luxury Executive Sedan; families with surfboards, golf bags and several large suitcases should book an executive SUV. Standard Black SUVs and Sprinter Vans carry groups to villas together, and minicoaches or motorcoaches serve incentive groups. Arrival and agriculture rules
Hawaii protects its farms and native ecosystems with strict agriculture rules. Passengers arriving from the mainland complete the state's plant and animal declaration, managed by the Hawaii Department of Agriculture. On the way home to the mainland, checked and carry-on bags go through a USDA agricultural inspection before security, so allow extra time when you set the return pickup. Maui drives on the right, and pedestrians and cyclists share many narrow roads.
