Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport (TLL)
Tallinn's airport is one of the closest to a capital centre anywhere in Europe: about 4 km south-east of the Old Town, next to Lake Ulemiste. It has a single terminal. Standard pickup is curbside at the designated pre-arranged pickup area in front of Arrivals, with the car and plate sent by message after landing. A name-board meet and greet inside the hall is an add-on, and add-ons are only available in selected locations. The drive to the Old Town or the Rotermann Quarter takes 10 to 15 minutes, or 20 at the evening peak. Details on the Tallinn Airport site.
Waiting included: 60 minutes after actual landing on international flights, 15 minutes on other pickups, then 15-minute blocks. Business jets use the airport's general aviation side; our private aviation team arranges FBO-door pickups where allowed.
Estonia, Schengen and the EES
Estonia is in the EU, Schengen and the euro area. Flights from other Schengen countries and the ferries from Helsinki involve no passport control, although ferry lines ask for a valid passport or ID card at boarding. Non-EU travellers arriving on flights from outside Schengen are registered in the Entry/Exit System (EES), and ETIAS has not launched yet. Estonia's eastern border with Russia, at Narva, is an external EU border with strict controls and restricted crossings; we do not route transfers across it.
Tallinn-Helsinki ferries: getting to and from the harbour
About 80 km of the Gulf of Finland separates Tallinn and Helsinki, and several ferry lines cross it through the day in about 2 to 2.5 hours. In Tallinn, all of them use the Old City Harbour (Vanasadam), a few minutes from the Old Town, but from different terminals: Terminal A and Terminal D handle the Helsinki ships, on opposite sides of the harbour basin. How the combined trip works:

Districts: Old Town, Rotermann and Ulemiste City
The UNESCO-listed Old Town, with Toompea hill and the parliament above the lower town, is largely closed to through traffic; the chauffeur uses the permitted access points or drops at the edge. Next to the harbour, the Rotermann Quarter and the Kesklinn centre hold offices, the Swissotel and the Hilton Tallinn Park. The technology scene sits in Ulemiste City, a business campus beside the airport, and in the converted industrial areas of Kalamaja and Telliskivi. To the east, Kadriorg has the palace and the KUMU art museum, and Pirita the beach and yacht harbour. For a day of meetings across these areas, book the hourly chauffeur service.

Winter driving and road rules in Estonia
Estonia drives on the right, headlights stay on at all times, and winter tyres are required through the cold months. Snow and ice from December to March are normal, which makes an executive SUV a sensible booking for a trip to Tartu or Parnu. Estonia charges no road tolls or vignettes for cars.

Rail and road links onward
Balti jaam, the main railway station, is a short walk from the Old Town, with trains to Tartu and Narva. The Rail Baltica line to Riga is under construction, so the practical way to Riga today is by road, about 4 to 4.5 hours on the Via Baltica. Vilnius is a long day's drive beyond.
