Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport (ABJ)
Abidjan's airport is at Port-Bouët on the coastal strip south of the lagoon, about 16 km from the Plateau. It is the main international gateway for Côte d'Ivoire and one of the busiest in West Africa. The Plateau: Abidjan's business district
The Plateau is the high-rise peninsula between the Ébrié Lagoon's bays, home to ministries, the Cité Administrative, bank headquarters, the regional stock exchange (BRVM) and the African Development Bank. Abidjan is spread around lagoon inlets, so bridges shape every route. The Félix Houphouët-Boigny and Charles de Gaulle bridges link the Plateau to Treichville. The Henri Konan Bédié bridge connects the Riviera to Marcory and carries a toll. The newer Alassane Ouattara bridge links Yopougon to the Plateau side. Entry rules for Côte d'Ivoire
Most visitors from outside ECOWAS need a visa. The standard route is the official e-visa: you pre-enrol online, pay, travel with the approval, and complete biometric enrolment at Abidjan airport on arrival. It is valid only for arrival at Abidjan's airport. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required. Check the details before you fly, as rules change.
Driving in Abidjan
Driving is on the right. Traffic police checks are common, and chauffeurs carry vehicle papers. The Autoroute du Nord toward Yamoussoukro is tolled and is the usual road for an intercity transfer north. Allow extra time at the start and end of the working day and after heavy rain.
Beyond Abidjan
