Flesland lies about 18 km south of the city centre. Since 2017 all flights use one terminal building, with domestic, Schengen and non-Schengen gates in separate zones and one shared arrivals level. The historic centre wraps around Vågen harbour: Bryggen's wooden Hanseatic wharf on the north side, the fish market and Torgallmenningen square at the head, and Nordnes to the south-west. Intercity transfers from Bergen
The drive to Stavanger is about 210 km with two ferries and takes 4 h 30 min to 5 h 15 min. Oslo is about 460 km over the mountains on the E16 or Rv7, usually 7 to 8 hours, so many travellers take the Bergen Railway and book a car at each end, starting at Oslo Gardermoen if flying on. Entry rules for non-Norwegian visitors
Norway is outside the EU but inside Schengen, so the EU Entry/Exit System applies at Flesland for non-EU travellers on short stays: expect a fingerprint and photo registration at your first Schengen entry.
