Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH): terminals and pickup
KHH sits in Siaogang District, south of the city centre, with an international terminal and a domestic terminal side by side; the airport is being expanded with a new terminal built in phases. The cruise terminal on the harbour
The Kaohsiung Port Cruise Terminal opened in March 2023 on Haibian Road in Lingya District, stretching along piers 18 to 21 of the inner harbour. It can berth two large ships at the same time and clears passengers in an immigration hall on its first two floors. Kaohsiung's newer business address is the Asia New Bay Area along the harbour: the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, the Kaohsiung Music Center, the Kaohsiung Main Public Library and new office towers. The heavy-industry and logistics side of the city lies south in Siaogang and Linhai, beside the container port and the steel and petrochemical plants that bring engineers and procurement teams here. Zuoying and the Lotus Pond sit to the north near the high-speed rail station, and Sinsing and Cianjin hold the older downtown around Central Park. High-speed rail and intercity trips
Taiwan High Speed Rail terminates at Zuoying, where the HSR, Taiwan Railway and MRT Red Line share one hub. The fastest trains reach Taipei in about 1.5 hours; the timetable is on THSR. By road, Taipei is around 350 km and 4 to 5 hours on Freeway 1 or Freeway 3. Most chauffeur requests here are shorter: a morning in Tainan's temples and Anping, or a one-way transfer to a Kenting resort at the southern tip. Driving in Kaohsiung: right-hand traffic and tolls
Taiwan drives on the right. Freeway tolls are collected electronically by distance, with no toll booths.
