Key West International Airport (EYW)
EYW sits on the southeast side of the island, along South Roosevelt Boulevard and Smathers Beach. It has one compact terminal, and standard pickup is curbside at the designated pre-arranged pickup area outside baggage claim. The chauffeur messages the car details once you land. A name-board meet and greet inside the terminal is an add-on; add-ons are only available in selected locations. Flights are tracked on every pickup, so the chauffeur is timed to the actual landing, with 30 minutes of waiting included on domestic flights and 60 on international arrivals, then 15-minute blocks. The Overseas Highway from Miami
Many travellers fly into Miami or Fort Lauderdale for more flight choice and drive down. The route leaves the mainland at Florida City and runs about 125 miles along US-1 through Key Largo, Islamorada and Marathon, crossing 42 bridges, including the Seven Mile Bridge west of Marathon. It is mostly two lanes with limited passing, and a single accident can stop traffic for an hour or more, so we allow margin on any trip to a departing flight. Cruise calls at Key West
Key West is a port of call rather than an embarkation port. Large ships berth at Pier B, next to the resort at the foot of Front Street, and smaller ships use the city's Mallory Square dock; the Navy-owned Outer Mole, reached through restricted military land, had its city lease due to end in August 2026. For shore days the chauffeur meets passengers at the agreed pickup point outside the pier gate, since vehicles cannot enter the dock area. Getting around Old Town
The historic district is a grid of narrow, often one-way streets lined with conch houses, and Duval Street runs from the Gulf side to the Atlantic. Parking is scarce and pedestrians, cyclists and scooters are everywhere, so a chauffeur saves real time. Key areas include Mallory Square for the nightly Sunset Celebration, the Historic Seaport at Key West Bight with the Dry Tortugas and Fort Myers ferry terminal, Truman Annex with the Little White House, Bahama Village, the Southernmost Point at Whitehead and South Streets, and New Town along North Roosevelt Boulevard. Landmark hotels include the Casa Marina, The Reach, the Pier House and Ocean Key Resort. A sedan or SUV fits every Old Town street; a Sprinter reaches most hotels; coaches work best on the main boulevards.
Key West events through the year
- January to April: high season, with the most flights and full hotels.
- April: the Conch Republic Independence Celebration.
- May: the Key West Songwriters Festival.
- July: Hemingway Days, and the two-day recreational lobster mini-season in late July across the Keys.
- Late October: Fantasy Fest, ten days of parades and street parties, with Duval Street closures.
- November: offshore powerboat racing in the harbour.
- 31 December: New Year's Eve drops on Duval Street.

Which vehicle for the Keys?
A business or Luxury Executive Sedan handles most island trips for one or two people. An executive SUV adds room for dive bags or golf clubs and is the comfortable choice for the long drive from Miami. A Standard Black SUV or Sprinter Van carries a wedding party or family together down the highway, and minicoaches serve groups between resorts and venues. Weather and hurricane season
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November, peaking from August to October. When Monroe County orders an evacuation, visitors are told to leave first, and US-1 is the only road out. Summer afternoons bring short, heavy storms. If a storm cancels your flight or closes the road, the desk rebooks with you.
