Two airports: BTS or Vienna Schwechat?
Bratislava has its own airport, but many international travellers fly into Vienna instead, because Vienna has far more long-haul and network flights. Both work well by chauffeur:
- M. R. Stefanik Airport (BTS) is about 9 km north-east of the centre, with a single terminal and a pickup area directly in front of Arrivals. The drive to the Old Town or Eurovea takes 15 to 25 minutes. Flight information is on the Bratislava Airport site.
- Vienna International Airport (VIE) at Schwechat is about 55 km west. The drive to Bratislava on the Austrian A4 and A6 and the Slovak D4 and D2 usually takes 40 to 55 minutes, which is often quicker than reaching central Vienna from the same airport.
At both airports, standard pickup is curbside at the designated pre-arranged pickup area. A meet and greet inside the arrivals hall with a name board is an add-on; add-ons are only available in selected locations. Bratislava and Vienna: the twin-city run
The two capitals are the closest pair in Europe, and many people live in one and work in the other. A chauffeur covers the city-to-city trip, about 80 km from the Old Town to central Vienna, in roughly 60 to 75 minutes. The Slovakia-Austria border at Kittsee is an internal Schengen crossing without routine checks, though carrying a passport or ID card is still required. Where meetings happen in Bratislava
The Old Town (Stare Mesto) below Bratislava Castle holds the government, the presidential palace and the historic centre, much of it pedestrian. East along the Danube, Eurovea combines offices, a riverside mall and the Eurovea Tower, and next to it the Nivy district has become the main business cluster, with the Nivy Tower and the Stanica Nivy bus station. Across the river, Petrzalka is the large residential district, and the automotive industry sits at the city edge in Devinska Nova Ves. A day of meetings between a ministry in the Old Town and an office in Nivy, with a dinner in Vienna afterwards, suits the hourly chauffeur service.
Hotels and venues
Frequent addresses are the Grand Hotel River Park on the Danube embankment, the Sheraton at Eurovea, the Radisson Blu Carlton on Hviezdoslav Square and the hotels around Nivy. Trade fairs use Incheba Expo in Petrzalka, ice hockey and concerts fill the Ondrej Nepela Arena, and the national football stadium stands at Tehelne pole. The Slovak National Theatre and the Reduta concert hall host the classical season.
Calendar: when Bratislava gets busy
- June: the Coronation Celebrations re-enact the Hungarian royal coronations held in St. Martin's Cathedral.
- Summer: open-air concerts and river cruises on the Danube.
- Autumn: the Bratislava Music Festival, the city's main classical event, usually from late October into November.
- Late November to December: Christmas markets on the Main Square and Hviezdoslav Square.

Picking the right vehicle
Most airport and Vienna runs use a Standard Sedan or a Luxury Executive Sedan. Book an executive SUV for three passengers, heavy luggage or winter mornings on the D2. A Standard Black SUV or Sprinter Van moves a team from VIE to a plant visit, and minicoaches or motorcoaches carry a conference group from Incheba. Local driving notes
Traffic drives on the right. The Apollo, SNP (Most SNP) and Lafranconi bridges over the Danube are the pinch points at commuting hours, and the D1 eastbound backs up on Friday afternoons. Winter tyres are required in wintry conditions. Parking in the Old Town is limited, so the chauffeur drops at the edge of the pedestrian zone or at the hotel entrance.
Rail, river and bus arrivals
Trains arrive at Bratislava hlavna stanica, the main station north of the centre, with services to Vienna, Budapest and Prague. Long-distance buses use Stanica Nivy. River boats between Bratislava and Vienna dock at the passenger quay on the Old Town embankment in the sailing season. The chauffeur meets you at the station front or the quay entrance.
Cross-border onward trips
