Kraków Airport (KRK) at Balice
KRK lies about 15 km west of the Old Town and has one passenger terminal. Standard pickup is curbside at the designated pre-arranged pickup area outside arrivals; your chauffeur messages the vehicle and spot when you land. A name-board meet and greet in the arrivals hall is an add-on, and add-ons are only available in selected locations. The drive to the Old Town or Kazimierz usually takes 20 to 40 minutes. Flights are tracked, so the chauffeur is timed to actual landing. Included waiting is 60 minutes on international arrivals, 30 minutes on domestic flights and 15 minutes on other pickups, then 15-minute blocks.
Visiting the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial with a chauffeur
The former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp at Oświęcim is about 65 to 70 km west of Krakow, typically 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes each way. It is a place of memory, and the trip is planned with that in mind.
- Book your entry pass first. Entry to the Memorial is by timed pass reserved online on the official Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial booking site; passes are not sold at the gate. Many visitors choose a tour with a Memorial educator, which lasts about 3.5 hours and covers both Auschwitz I and Birkenau.
- Book the car around the pass. Enter the entry time when booking; the chauffeur leaves Krakow early enough to arrive 30 minutes before it.
- The chauffeur waits discreetly in the visitor parking area and drives you between Auschwitz I and Birkenau if your visit is not using the Memorial's own shuttle.
- Plan the day gently. The Memorial limits bag size, so leave large bags in the car. Allow 5 to 7 hours door to door. Many visitors prefer a quiet drive back without a second stop.
The Memorial asks visitors to behave with dignity: quiet voices, no eating on the grounds and appropriate clothing. Old Town, Kazimierz and where business happens
The Old Town ring, with the Main Market Square and the Cloth Hall, is largely closed to general traffic, so drops happen at hotel access points or at the Planty gardens that encircle it. Kazimierz, the historic Jewish quarter, and Podgórze across the Vistula hold restaurants, galleries and the Schindler Factory museum. Wawel Castle sits on its hill at the south end. Krakow is also a large centre for business services and IT, with offices around Rondo Mogilskie, Zablocie and the Kapelanka area. Hotels used by business travellers include the Sheraton Grand Kraków below Wawel, the Radisson Blu, the Hotel Stary and the Hotel Copernicus.

Rail connections
Kraków Główny, the main station beside the Galeria Krakowska mall, is served by PKP Intercity express trains to Warsaw in about 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes, and to Gdansk, Wroclaw and Katowice. Schedules are on PKP Intercity. Your chauffeur can meet you at the station pickup area.
Driving realities in Krakow
Poland drives on the right. Since 1 January 2026 a Clean Transport Zone covers much of the city inside the fourth ring road, with emission standards for vehicles; affiliate vehicles are four model years old or younger. Trams share many central streets, and the Old Town's pedestrian areas mean the final approach can be indirect. Winters bring snow from December to February.
Entry notes
Poland is in the EU and Schengen. The EU Entry/Exit System has been fully operational since 10 April 2026, so non-EU visitors on short stays register biometrics at their first Schengen entry, which can add time at KRK passport control. ETIAS has not yet started.
Vehicles and cancellation
Sedans suit one or two travellers; an executive SUV or van is better for families and mountain trips in winter; Sprinters and minicoaches suit groups. See the fleet and rates. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours ahead, then 10% at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show.
