What the Porto fare covers
The fare shown is fixed for the trip you entered. It includes flight tracking on airport pickups; much of northern Portugal's motorway network is tolled electronically at overhead gantries. Included waiting is 60 minutes from actual landing on international arrivals, 30 minutes on domestic flights such as the Lisbon shuttle, and 15 minutes on hotel, restaurant and terminal pickups, then 15-minute blocks. Child seats are free on request where the affiliate carries them.

Porto Airport: terminal, pickup and drive times
Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO) is about 11 km north-west of the city centre, in the municipality of Maia near the Matosinhos boundary. It has a single passenger terminal, which makes arrivals simple: after baggage and, for non-Schengen flights, passport control, you walk straight out to the curb.
Curbside pickup at the designated area for pre-arranged transport is standard. Your confirmation says exactly where it is and the chauffeur's number. A meet and greet inside arrivals with a name board is an add-on; add-ons are only available in selected locations, and the engine shows whether it is available for your flight. Leixões cruise terminal in Matosinhos
Ocean cruise ships calling at Porto berth at the Port of Leixões, at the mouth of the Leça river in Matosinhos, about 10 km north-west of the Ribeira. The cruise terminal building on the south breakwater opened in 2015, and larger ships sometimes use berths inside the commercial port. On a turnaround day, a pre-booked car is the dependable choice: taxis cluster when several thousand passengers disembark at once, and the chauffeur is waiting at the permitted pickup point with your name.

The Douro wine region upstream of Porto is the reason many visitors book a car for a whole day. The valley's terraced vineyards are a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, and the drive there has become quicker since the Marão tunnel on the A4 opened in 2016.

A typical plan is an 8:30 or 9:00 pickup in Porto, two quinta visits with a lunch booking in between, a stop at a viewpoint such as São Leonardo de Galafura, and a return to the city in the early evening. Quinta access roads are narrow and steep, so the chauffeur's timing includes them. The harvest usually runs from September into early October, when estates are busiest and lunches book up early. - 23 June: São João, Porto's biggest night, with street parties across the city and fireworks over the Douro. Traffic in the centre is heavily restricted; book early and expect pickup points to shift.
- September to early October: the Douro harvest.
- December: Christmas lights and markets around Aliados and Batalha.

Trains: Campanhã and São Bento
Porto Campanhã, east of the centre, is the main intercity station, with Alfa Pendular and Intercidades trains to Lisbon in about 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours 15 minutes, plus services to Braga, Aveiro and Coimbra. Driving in Porto
Portugal drives on the right. Porto's historic centre is hilly, with steep cobbled streets, trams on a few routes and pedestrian zones, so short distances can take longer than a map suggests. The VCI inner ring road and the A28 towards Matosinhos and the airport are the main arteries and slow down at peak hours. The upper deck of the Dom Luís I bridge carries only the metro and pedestrians, so cars cross to Gaia by other bridges. Motorway tolls in the region are largely electronic.
Entering Portugal: EES and ETIAS
Portugal is in Schengen. Travellers arriving on non-Schengen flights, from the UK, North America or Brazil for example, clear passport control at Porto Airport, and since April 2026 non-EU short-stay visitors are registered in the Entry/Exit System, with fingerprints and a facial image taken on first entry. ETIAS is not yet in operation; the EU has withdrawn its 2026 target and will give several months' notice of a start date. Details are on the official EU travel portal.
