Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport at the Baden Airpark in Rheinmünster is closest, with a compact single terminal and a schedule of mostly European leisure routes; it also handles business aviation. For long-haul flights most guests use Frankfurt Airport, then book the drive south on the A5 as a fixed-price intercity transfer.

The Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, built onto the old railway station at the western end of the town, is one of Europe's largest opera and concert houses. The Schwarzwaldhochstraße climbs from Baden-Baden along the ridge to Freudenstadt, with viewpoints, the Mummelsee lake and hotels along the way; in winter it can have snow and chains may be needed. Crossing between Germany and France
Germany and France are both in the Schengen Area, so there is normally no passport control on the Rhine bridges. Both countries have run temporary internal border checks in recent years, however, so carry a passport or national ID on a Strasbourg transfer. Visitors arriving from outside Schengen register under the EU Entry/Exit System at their first Schengen airport; it has been fully operational since 10 April 2026. ETIAS for visa-exempt travellers has not launched yet, as announced on the EU travel portal.
