Monterrey International Airport (MTY): terminals and where you are met
Monterrey International Airport, officially General Mariano Escobedo, sits in the municipality of Apodaca, north-east of the city, and is run by the airport group OMA. It has three terminals. Terminal A takes a mix of domestic and international flights, including several US and Canadian carriers; Terminal B is the SkyTeam building used by Aeroméxico and Delta; Terminal C is the base of Viva Aerobus. A free shuttle links the three. Put your flight number in the booking and the engine assigns the right building.
Mexican airports are federal property, and carrying passengers from the terminal requires a federal airport-service permit. Airports therefore send pre-booked private cars to designated pickup zones rather than the taxi rank at the door. The Avenida Miguel Alemán corridor and the Constitución and Morones Prieto expressways along the Santa Catarina river bed jam badly at the morning and evening peaks. The fare is set when you book, so a slow evening does not change it.
San Pedro, Valle Oriente and the districts you will visit
- San Pedro Garza García is the corporate and residential core west of the centre, below the Sierra Madre. Calzada del Valle and Calzada San Pedro hold offices, restaurants and hotels.
- Valle Oriente, on the San Pedro side of the river, is the high-rise district with the Torre KOI area, corporate towers and the Paseo San Pedro and Fashion Drive malls.
- Centro and Barrio Antiguo surround the Macroplaza, with the state government palace, city museums and bars in restored stone houses.
- Parque Fundidora, the old steelworks turned park, holds the Cintermex convention centre, Arena Monterrey and the Paseo Santa Lucía canal.
- Apodaca, Escobedo and Santa Catarina host the industrial parks where manufacturing visits happen.
Many visitors stay at hotels in Valle Oriente and San Pedro, such as the Live Aqua Urban Resort Monterrey, the Camino Real, the Safi Royal Luxury Valle and the Quinta Real, or downtown near the Macroplaza. Ask the hotel which entrance it prefers for pickups; San Pedro properties often have controlled driveways.
Plant visits and supplier days in the industrial parks
Nuevo León is one of Mexico's largest manufacturing states, and nearshoring has added new parks along the airport corridor and towards Salinas Victoria and Ciénega de Flores. Plant gates usually ask for the visitor's name and ID and sometimes the vehicle plate in advance; send the list with the booking and the affiliate registers it. For a day with three or four sites, book the hourly chauffeur service so the car stays with you and waits outside security. Stadiums, arenas and the event calendar
Estadio BBVA in Guadalupe, home of CF Monterrey (Rayados), hosted matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and Estadio Universitario in San Nicolás is home to Tigres UANL. - March or April: the Pa'l Norte music festival usually fills Parque Fundidora over a weekend.

- Year-round: trade fairs at Cintermex, from industrial automation to furniture.

Arriving in Mexico: FMM and customs at MTY
Most air travellers no longer fill in a paper tourist card. The immigration officer or an e-gate scans the passport and records the permitted stay, which generates a digital FMM (Forma Migratoria Múltiple); the fee is normally included in the airline ticket. Keep the passport stamp or download the record from the INM portal if you need to prove status. Travellers driving in from Texas are different: past the border free zone, a land arrival needs an FMM, which INM lets you complete online before the crossing. Visa rules depend on nationality; US, Canadian, UK and EU passport holders do not need a visa for a short visit. After immigration, customs uses a random red-or-green light for bag inspection.
Driving in Monterrey and on the roads north
Mexico drives on the right. The toll highway 85D runs north to Nuevo Laredo and 40D west towards Saltillo; both are faster and better maintained than the free roads beside them. Monterrey has no Hoy No Circula scheme like Mexico City's, but summer heat above 38 °C is common, so chauffeurs keep the car cooled at the pickup. If plans change, cancelling more than 72 hours before pickup costs nothing; within 72 hours the charge is 10 %, within 48 hours 50 %, and within 24 hours or for a no-show the full fare.
