Adelaide Airport (ADL): close to town
ADL is one of the closest major airports to a city centre in Australia, about 7 km west of the CBD. Domestic and international flights share one terminal. The CBD, North Adelaide and the beach suburbs
Adelaide's centre is a planned grid ringed by the Park Lands. North Terrace holds the Adelaide Convention Centre, the railway station, SkyCity and the cultural precinct, with the InterContinental Adelaide, the Hilton Adelaide on Victoria Square, The Playford, the Mayfair Hotel and Eos by SkyCity as common pickups. Adelaide Oval, across the River Torrens, hosts AFL, cricket and concerts. North Adelaide has restaurants on O'Connell and Melbourne Streets. Glenelg, the beachside suburb with a tram to the city, is 20 minutes away.
Wine regions with a chauffeur

Cruise and rail connections
Cruise ships berth at the Outer Harbor passenger terminal, about 30 to 40 minutes from the city; we meet passengers after disembarkation and track the ship's arrival. The Adelaide Parklands Terminal at Keswick is the station for long-distance trains, including The Ghan to Darwin and the Indian Pacific between Sydney and Perth. Business travel: defence, universities and the city centre
A lot of Adelaide's business travel is tied to defence and industry: the naval shipbuilding precinct at Osborne on the Lefevre Peninsula, the Edinburgh defence precinct in the northern suburbs, and the Lot Fourteen innovation district on North Terrace, home to the Australian Space Agency. Adelaide University, formed in 2026 by merging the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia, the Royal Adelaide Hospital and the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute also bring a steady stream of visiting academics and clinicians. Osborne is about 30 to 40 minutes from the CBD and Edinburgh around 35 to 45 minutes, so a morning split between the city and a defence site suits hourly chauffeur service. Longer drives from Adelaide
Some trips go well beyond the wine regions. Victor Harbor on the Fleurieu Peninsula is about 1 h 15 south. The Limestone Coast and Coonawarra are four to five hours southeast, and Melbourne is about 730 km, a full day that most people fly instead. Driving in and around Adelaide
Traffic keeps left. The city is compact and peak congestion is lighter than in Sydney or Melbourne, though South Road works slow north-south trips. There are no toll roads in South Australia. Kangaroos are a real risk on country roads at dusk.
