Parliament House, the Triangle and embassies
Parliament House sits on Capital Hill, with visitor and business access at set entry points and security screening inside. The Parliamentary Triangle below it holds the National Gallery, the High Court and several departments. Barton and Parkes house many federal agencies and the Hyatt Hotel Canberra and Hotel Realm. Yarralumla and Red Hill are home to most embassies and high commissions. Russell, near the lake, is the Defence precinct. Sydney transfers and the Snowy Mountains
The Federal Highway and Hume Motorway link Canberra to Sydney in three to three and a half hours. It is a common one-way intercity transfer for people who prefer a car to the short flight. The NSW TrainLink service from Canberra station in Kingston takes over four hours. In the ski season, roughly June to early October, we drive to Thredbo and Perisher via Cooma and Jindabyne; allow extra time and expect chain-carry rules in Kosciuszko National Park.
Protocol, security and official visits
Canberra's visitors include heads of delegation, foreign ministers and senior executives with security teams. For these trips a coordinator plans the vehicle order, arrival points at Parliament House or the relevant department, and timing with your office, then confirms the plan in writing. Armoured sedans and SUVs are available through partners on request, after a risk assessment, and chauffeurs working these jobs are briefed on the route in advance. Driving in the capital
