Zurich Airport to Davos: the standard transfer
Almost every visitor to Davos flies into Zurich Airport. The road route runs about 150 km: the A3 along the Walensee, the A13 to Landquart, then the valley road up the Prättigau past Klosters to Davos. In normal conditions allow 2 to 2.5 hours. Snowfall, holiday traffic and the January conference week can stretch that, and the fare stays fixed whatever the clock says.
The chauffeur waits at Zurich's designated area for pre-booked cars and messages you when your flight lands; a meet and greet inside the arrivals hall with a name board is an add-on offered only in selected locations. Flights are tracked, and waiting from the actual landing is included: 60 minutes for international arrivals, 30 minutes for domestic ones, 15 for hotel pickups. Additional time is billed in 15-minute blocks.
How booking works

World Economic Forum week: what actually happens
The WEF Annual Meeting takes place in Davos every January, usually in the second half of the month, and it changes how the whole valley works. Check the dates on the World Economic Forum site.
- Security: Swiss federal and cantonal police, supported by the army, run checkpoints on the approach roads and a controlled zone around the Congress Centre. Vehicles entering the inner zones need a pass issued through the meeting's own process; your WEF contact or organisation handles that accreditation.
- Demand: hotels, apartments and vehicles in the valley are committed months ahead. Delegations should start planning in the autumn.
- Road time: approach roads run slower, with checks, so a Zurich transfer that takes two hours in March can take longer this week.

Planning a delegation programme for WEF week
Delegations that run smoothly in Davos tend to settle a few things early:
- Who needs a dedicated car and who can share a shuttle between the hotel, the Congress Centre and side events on the Promenade.
- Arrival and departure waves, since most participants land at Zurich on the Sunday or Monday and leave on Thursday or Friday. Staggered Zurich runs avoid a car being stuck on the Prättigau road when it is needed in town.
- Standby cover for late-evening receptions, when a principal's schedule changes by the hour. A car on hourly chauffeur hire stays with the traveller.
- Accreditation paperwork for each vehicle and chauffeur, handled through your WEF contact well before the week.
- A named coordinator who holds the master schedule and speaks to our dispatch team during the week.

Klosters, the Parsenn and the hotels
Davos stretches along the valley floor between Davos Dorf and Davos Platz, with the Congress Centre and the Promenade in between. The Parsenn and Jakobshorn ski areas rise on either side. Hotels used for business visitors include the Steigenberger Grandhotel Belvédère on the Promenade, the AlpenGold Hotel on the hillside and the Hotel Seehof in Dorf. Klosters, 15 to 20 minutes down the valley, is quieter, with chalets and a shared ski area.

The Spengler Cup, played every year between Christmas and New Year, is one of the oldest club tournaments in ice hockey and fills the town. Davos Klosters tourism lists current events.
Onward to St. Moritz and the Engadin
The Flüela Pass links Davos with the Lower Engadin and on to St. Moritz, about 1 h 15 to 1 h 45 by car. The pass is kept open in winter but can close during heavy snow or avalanche risk, in which case the chauffeur uses the Vereina car train from Klosters Selfranga to Sagliains. The Engadin Airport at Samedan, with its FBO for private jets, is about an hour from Davos in good conditions and is a real alternative to Zurich for private flyers.
Train or car?
The Rhaetian Railway reaches Davos Platz and Davos Dorf from Landquart, where SBB trains from Zurich connect, and the whole trip takes about 2.5 hours. It is scenic and reliable. A chauffeur wins for groups with ski gear, late arrivals after the last good connection, and anyone going straight to a meeting in suit and coat. Travellers who start at Zurich HB can book a station pickup instead.
Vehicles for alpine roads
Book an executive SUV for winter; all-wheel drive and winter tyres are the norm on Graubünden roads from November to April. Arriving in Switzerland
Swiss border control at Zurich registers non-EU short-stay visitors in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since April 2026, with a face scan and fingerprints in place of a stamp. No ETIAS authorisation exists to apply for yet; the EU has not given a start date.europa.eu/).
Cancellation policy for Davos trips
Free cancellation up to 72 hours before pickup; then 10% within 72 hours, 50% within 48 hours and 100% within 24 hours or for a no-show. WEF programmes follow the same schedule for each booked vehicle.
