Pune International Airport (PNQ): terminal and pickup point
PNQ sits at Lohegaon, about 10 to 12 km northeast of the old city, on an Indian Air Force base that shares its runway with civil flights. Passenger flights use the new integrated terminal building opened in 2024. The Hinjewadi range is wide for a reason: the approach roads through Wakad and the Hinjewadi bridge queue badly between 8:30 and 10:30 and again from 17:30. If you have a morning meeting in Phase 2 or Phase 3, book a pickup earlier than feels necessary.
Where business travel goes: the IT parks and the auto belt
- Hinjewadi: the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in three phases on the western edge of the city, home to large software and services campuses.

Pune to Mumbai by car
The Mumbai-Pune Expressway, about 95 km of tolled, access-controlled road through the Western Ghats, carries most of the traffic between the two cities. Door to door, Pune to South Mumbai is roughly 150 km and 3 to 4 hours; Pune to Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj airport is similar, and many travellers book the car instead of a short flight. The Navi Mumbai International Airport, which opened to commercial flights on 25 December 2025, is closer to Pune, typically 2.5 to 3 hours. Pune Junction and rail links
Pune Junction station, near Sangamwadi and Camp, has frequent trains to Mumbai CSMT in about 3 to 3.5 hours, including the Deccan Queen. Chauffeurs collect at the station's forecourt pickup area rather than on the platforms. The Pune Metro, with lines linking Pimpri-Chinchwad, the city centre and Ramwadi, is useful for short hops, but a car is still the practical way to reach Hinjewadi with luggage.

Which vehicle to choose in Pune

Driving realities: traffic, tolls and the monsoon
India drives on the left. Pune has heavy two-wheeler traffic, many one-way streets in the old city and ongoing metro and flyover works on University Road and Nagar Road. The expressway uses FASTag electronic tolling. The southwest monsoon, roughly June to September, brings heavy rain and waterlogging on some underpasses; your chauffeur reroutes rather than risk a flooded stretch.
Visas and arrival formalities
Most foreign visitors need a visa for India. Many nationalities can apply online for an Indian e-Visa (tourist, business, conference or medical) through the official Indian Visa Online portal. Since 1 October 2025 foreign nationals and OCI cardholders complete a digital e-Arrival Card within 72 hours before landing, and the paper card has been withdrawn.
